On October 28th, the elementary counselors focused on a really important topic. We read the book, Spookly: The Square Pumpkin, to learn that even when there are differences between others, it is important to treat others with kindness.

Hello Custer community! The community filled my bucked. Last week, I had a family reach out to say how interesting and important our lessons have been to their kiddos. It made me (and the other counselors) very happy. Thank you all for being so receptive to our Wednesday Wellness lessons. Last week, talked about identifying the intensity and precursors of our emotions, as well as a couple of calm down tactics. For our 6th Wednesday Wellness lesson, we expanded our toolkit of calming strategies by learning about Mindfulness. Mindfulness is noticing what is happening right now. When you notice what is happening around you, it can help you to calm down when you’re sad, angry or frustrated. Mindfulness helps you deal with tough emotions, and mindfulness can make you happy and feel good. Hello Custer Cougar community, Last week, our topic was big emotions, flipping our lids, and finding simple ways to calm down. This week, I am excited to continue the theme of big emotions and coping strategies. The counseling team talks about the feeling of worry (or anxiety), how it feels/looks like (body sensations and behaviors), worry triggers (school, home, friends, family), and more grounding activities (exercising, gratitude, creativity, talking). Here are the links to this week’s Wednesday Wellness videos: It is very helpful to identify how strong - or how intense - our feelings of worry are.
See you next week for our 6th Wednesday Wellness lesson, which is a continuation of our big emotions and coping strategies theme! Ms. Wood Hi Custer Students and Families, Welcome to our 4th Wednesday Wellness! I hope that you all found a helpful tip about self-care from our last video!
